   OUR VISION
The Grossman Burn Foundation's campaign, "Stop Violence Against Women Globally" was launched earlier this year after receiving a number of letters accompanied by horrific photos from women in various areas of the world who were literally burned by someone in an effort to oppress, abuse, control and strip them of their rights and freedom.
It is our vision to build an alliance with other organizations that focus on issues of violence against women... whether it be rape in the Congo, genocidal acts carried out by militia targeting women and children in Somalia, violence in Darfur, oppression in Latin America or women and young teenagers that are victims of abuse here in the United States ... we developed this program to raise awareness and educate the world on why these atrocities are not to be tolerated in any society and we must first start by creating the shift. In generations past, women were revered as wise and powerful .. described as Goddesses and respected as mothers, nurturers, pro creators ... the essence and glue of a family.
This is a place we need to get back to! We hope by raising awareness ... to create a shift and help educate young mother's globally on how to teach their children the importance of respecting women and humanity in general. Imprinting on the young minds and future generations that violence will not be tolerated and love and respect for one another is far more powerful. Examples of stories we receive include the girls in Kandahar walking to school who were sprayed with acid by members of the Taliban or two young women in Vietnam, Truc Ly and Ni Na Phung (currently Phung is a patient at the burn center in Sherman Oaks), who were doused with gasoline by men ... a boy who was angry after "Ni Na" turned him down for a date. These are just a few examples that prompted our desire to start a vocal petition / video documentation to "Stop Violence Against Women Globally".
